(Monday, March 16) Important Message from the Deputy Director About COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Hi Everyone, We have two important coronavirus updates this morning. First, we have been working on a policy to address employees who are absent from work because of coronavirus. Your supervisor will be able to give you the details. We are trying to be as accommodating as possible, but our ability to do so is constrained by certain rules that control the use of our funds. We are very pleased to see that the federal government is acting quickly, and we are hoping to get some guidance on relief for affected employees as early as this week. Second, the US CDC has expanded its list of Level 3 Travel Health Notice countries to now include all of Europe. The list had already included China, Iran, South Korea and Italy. The CDC requires that anyone who has traveled to these countries stay home for a period of 14 days from the time they left the country. If you fall in this category, please go home immediately, contact your medical professional, and call Missy in HR. Also, if you have been in contact with someone who has been to one of these countries, you should monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms and you may also be asked to stay home for the 14-day period – again, please contact Missy right away for guidance. If you plan to travel outside the US in the future – or if you come into contact with someone you know has travelled abroad – please check the CDC Travel Health Notice list and let Missy know.
