After review of the latest mask recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), YCCAC is advising the use of the Level 3 Surgical Mask for YCCAC staff. This is an update and a modification of our earlier endorsement of the N95 mask for staff use.
The CDC, in its January 14th mask advisory, stated that “Surgical masks are . . . deemed better than cloth masks in preventing the spread of COVID-19.”
YCCAC therefore recommends agency staff to wear the Level 3 Surgical Mask and not the N95 mask. We strongly advise against use of cloth face masks, as these have shown to provide minimal protection against COVID-19 infection.
