
2020 YCCAC Teddy Award recipient, Det. Eric Small of the Sanford Police Department, was recently featured in an article with the Portsmouth Herald. The article highlights his commitment to the mission of helping Sanford's most vulnerable citizens, the connections he maintains with others to fulfill that mission, and for his inspiring message of choosing love over fear.
“There are two ways that you can operate in your life: fear or love,” Small said. “I think a lot of people are scared of a homeless person or someone who’s addicted to drugs because they don’t know how to deal with that – they don’t know anything about it. I was that person. I was scared. I wasn’t fearful for my life, but I was scared to have a conversation.” - Det. Eric Small
