If you or someone you know can demonstrate a financial hardship after January 21, 2020, associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, such as job loss, a reduction in household income, the incurring of significant costs for health care or other financial hardship, they may be eligible for assistance through the Homeownership Assistance Fund at MaineHousing.
The State of Maine received $50 million from the U.S. Treasury’s Homeowner Assistance Fund, established by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, to provide relief to homeowners who suffered a financial hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Homeowner Assistance Fund can provide eligible homeowners up to $50,000 in benefits. These benefits can be used for a variety of expenses or past-due bills including mortgage payments for Maine homeowners. For more information, contact Martha Guptill or Theresa Leblanc or go to mainehousing.org.
