The University of New England held its 6th Annual Teddy Bear Toss on February 11th at UNE’s Harold Alfond Forum. The Bear Toss brings hundreds of new and gently used stuffed animals to families in York County and surrounding communities. At the first score by UNE on this night, fans hurl stuffed animals onto the ice. You can see a clip of the moment here. The animals are collected, bagged up, and distributed to nonprofits who can use them.
Our Children’s Services program has been a recipient of some 250 stuffed animals for a number of years. This year, Darcy Dube and Danielle Raitt from Children’s Services collected the stuffed toys from UNE and transported them back to Spruce Street, where they will be given out to Head Start and Early Head Start families.
