CDC Recommends Higher Quality Masks as Cases Surge

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has updated its advisory on the type of masks used to prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2. In its message of January 14, 2022, the CDC notes that “masking is a critical public health tool to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and it is important to remember that any mask is better than no mask.”

The agency recommends the use of N95 masks over cloth masks. Surgical masks are also deemed better than cloth masks in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Both surgical and N95 masks will be available at masking stations for staff who would like to use them in the office. Remember that it is most important to wear a well-fitted mask or respirator correctly that is comfortable for you and that provides good protection.
