Barb Wentworth, who for many years served as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of York County, was yesterday awarded The Elise Kittredge Award at UWYC. A friend and community partner to many at YCCAC (she worked with most if not all YCCAC programs in some capacity during her long tenure at United Way), Barb was selected in 2014 to receive the Teddi Award. Named in honor of Teddi Brunette, a longtime YCCAC staff member who passed away in 2005, the Teddi Award is given to “an individual or organization exemplifying Teddi’s extraordinary spirit and joy in giving to others.”

Today, we awarded Barb Wentworth The Elise Kittredge Award at our Virtual Annual Meeting. The Elise Kittredge Award is presented to an individual in the community who, through the exceptional contribution of time, talent, and/or financial resources, has helped improve the quality of life for neighbors in a vital and enduring way. During her 30 years of service with UWYC and the York community, Barb Wentworth set the standard for visionary leadership and the role that volunteerism can play in making communities better places to learn, work and live, by collaborating with nonprofits, municipal leaders, and generous donors and businesses alike. Wentworth’s tenure included launching a volunteer center and redefining UWYC’s business model to focus in on critical community issues, specifically, to ensure the best start for children birth to age 8, help youth develop leadership skills and community connections through service, and support a safety net of services that meet basic needs, including improving nutrition for children and seniors.
“It gives me great pleasure to present Barb Wentworth with the 2021 Elise Kittredge Award for her exceptional contributions over the past three decades,” said Brian Petrovek, President and CEO, United Way of York County. “We thank Barb for her unwavering commitment to our mission and values, showing us all the true spirit of a life lived United.
