In January, York County Community Action Corp. shared honors with Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center as the Saco/Biddeford Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Nonprofit of the Year. YCCAC was selected for its excellence in responding to COVID-19, maintaining services to provide clients and patients with the resources vital to their wellbeing.

On Thursday, April 1, 2021, YCCAC Deputy Director Carter Friend accepted a plaque in recognition of the honor from Saco/Biddeford Chamber Executive Director, Jim LaBelle. The award was presented in front of the new YCCAC/Nasson Health Care office site at 357 Elm Street, Biddeford. An earlier news release about the award read:
The Nonprofit of the Year award was shared this year between two very impactful local organizations that went above and beyond to fulfill their mission and serve their clients during the pandemic. Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center and York County Community Action Corp. both provide outstanding service and programs in our communities. Seeds of Hope helps people with a needed daily meal, with job placement services, and in so many other ways every day. York County Community Action Corp. provides health, education and human services, including transportation and financial counseling. Both organizations found creative and safe ways to continue to provide their services safely this past year without missing a beat.
This award belongs to you—every staff member from every program and department. YCCAC works so well because you, each and every one, make it that way!
